Wa All Stars Defender Picks Toughest Opposing Striker

Wa All Stars talismanic center-back, Ismail Abdul Ganiu, has named Yakubu Mohammed as the toughest striker he has ever faced in the Championship.

The talented defender singled-out the former Ashgold centre-forward as the most ‘troublesome’ hitman he has faced as an opposition.

Ganiu touted the predatory instincts of the former ‘Miner’ as being the rationale behind his choice among the expected household names.

Speaking to Sports Crusader on the level of attackers in the Ghana Premier League, Ismail Ganiu heaped praises on strikers’ technical abilities in general, but singled-out Mohammed for special praise.

“If asked to single-out one striker that has given me difficult times in the league, I will say Yakubu Mohammed of Ashgold SC.

“He has caused me all sorts of problems anytime we meet on the pitch.

“From his physical confrontation to his understanding  of the game, he has been very, very difficult to handle home or away”, Ganiu told Sports Crusader.

On the current crop of strikers in the Ghana Premier league, the former Wa Anokye Stars centre-back shared the following kind words;

“I am not a striker, but I admire the way the current class of players  are working.

“Most of the forward liners now understand the game very well and this has reflected in the goal tally overall display.

“To me, Ghana is the winner in the longterm, when these crop of players blossom in the near future.”

The defensive stalwart will come face-to-face with Inter Allies’ attacking duo of Ropapa Mensah and Evans Mensah when his side takes on Inter Allies tomorrow.
