Some fans of Accra Hearts of Oak have expressed mixed feelings towards their defeat in the Presidents’ Cup to arch rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko yesterday.
The Porcupines won the 2016 Presidents’ Cup 3-2 on penalties after the two sides settled for a goalless draw game after 90 minutes at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.
And fans of the Phobians have expressed divergent views on the outcome of yesterday’s encounter with some citing poor preparations, whiles others blamed their players for causing the defeat as they missed a host of chances during regulation time.
Others laid the blame at the foot of the management of the club for showing a lack of vision and proper understanding of modern trends in football administration.
Some took to various social media platforms to pour out their frustrations after seeing the trophy they won last season against the same opposition slip away from their hands.
Players Patrick Razak, Cosmos Dauda and Leonard Tawiah came in for some strong criticisms for their display in yesterday’s game, while other called for patience for these players especially Razak and Dauda who are in their first season at the club.
Those in their favour argued that with time, they would blossom into quality materials for the capital clubs as they have yet to get into the Phobian spirit.
Most of the blame from the Hearts fans were directed towards the management of the club for showing what they described as lack of proper managerial acumen especially in seeing to it that they parted ways with their former coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi who id a ‘fantastic’ job for them in the first round of the league.
“How can you sack a coach who is doing well in the middle of the season, it is only a visionless leader that would take such a decision,” a fan wrote on one of the social media platforms.
However, most said this defeat to Kotoko must be put aside as the team prepares for the rest of the Ghana Premier League campaign which resumes next Wednesday with Hearts playing Aduana Stars in Accra.
