Liverpool Step-up Bid For Newcastle Winger After Man. United"s Interest

Liverpool have stepped-up their interest in Moussa Sissoko after tabling an opening £18m offer but Newcastle United are demanding a whopping £35m for the French international, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Sissoko

Jurgen Klopp has already brought in four new signings this summer but the German coach is understood to be in the market for a midfielder with Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva tipped to leave Anfield over the coming weeks.

Sissoko has been linked with a move to Liverpool recently and it seems they’ve now formalised their interest as the Liverpool Echo are citing reports coming from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo that claim the Merseysiders have tabled an £18m bid.

However, the newspaper suggests that Newcastle chiefs are refusing to let the 26-year-old leave on the cheap and are holding out for a fee closer to £35m off the back of Sissoko’s impressive displays for France during the European Championships.

It’s highly unlikely Liverpool will be prepared to pay that kind of money for the midfielder but the Reds may want to try and get a deal agreed quickly as they could yet face stiff competition for Sissoko’s signature from north-west rivals Manchester United.

The Mirror are reporting that Jose Mourinho has identified Sissoko as a possible new recruit and the new United boss will turn his attention to the Frenchman if his proposed deal to sign Paul Pogba falls through.

Mourinho has already splashed out on three new signings this summer but he’s also understood to be in the market for a midfielder as he continues to revamp the squad left behind by former boss Louis van Gaal.
