Leicester City have officially confirmed the signing of Ahmed Musa from CSKA Moscow for a fee rumoured to be between £16-21 million.
The signing of the 23 year old flyer has been muted for a few months now, but in the end it seems the Nigerian international has had his prayers answered, as he exits the Russian Premier League after an impressive four and a half year stint in the Russian capital.
Ahmed Musa started his career back in Nigeria highly impressing in the domestic Premier League, before he came to prominence as an 18 year old when he moved to Holland with VVV Venlo.
Despite only being a teenager, he was instantly relied upon as one of the side’s most important attacking players, immediately leading to interest from abroad. Despite initial interest from the upper echelons of the English Premier League, CSKA Moscow were the quickest to meet his club’s asking price, and in January 2012 Musa moved to Russia for a fee in the region of €5 million.
His record in Russia in terms of honours since is pretty hard to falter; three titles in four full seasons, averaging just under a goal every three games in just over 150 appearances for the Army club, including regular Champions League football.
