Ghana Beach Soccer Association President, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has revealed his satisfaction at the sudden growth of the coast-based game across the nation.
The celebrated president of the fastest developing sport in the country disclosed he draws motivation from the inner-most satisfaction gained by the Beach Soccer players, who are basically fisher folk along the coastal regions.
Clearly excited, Yaw played down the astronomic rise in the stature of the game but cited the collective effort of the association’s membership as being the secret behind its success.
Beach Soccer continues its surge up the sporting ladder after receiving bumper Support from the Accra Mayor ahead of the Unity Cup games later in the year.
Speaking to sports crusader on the sudden rise of the sport across Ghana, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah cited the abundance of talent and the need to impact the society he finds himself in as being motivational.
“If I really want to impact on the society, especially along the coast, then I think Beach Soccer gives me that challenge.
“The potential is huge across the coastal border and that alone is my motivation. It is not rocket science or magic we are doing.
“Given the support, Beach Soccer can flourish, and I strongly believe Ghana will be one of the super powers of Beach Soccer in the near future” he said.
The former Joy FM and Metro TV sports host also commended the media for their diverse roles in projecting the image of the game.
“Thanks to the mayor of Accra, the Sports Minister and to the media as well, for their diverse roles played in the development of the game”, he concluded.
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah introduced Beach Soccer in Ghana in 2011 and has since developed the sport into one of the most popular in the nation.
