The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuye has delivered on his promise to support Beach Soccer Ghana with an amount of Ghc 51,000 towards the One Ghana Unity Cup and future beach Soccer development in the Greater Accra Region.
The Mayor of Accra pledged support for Beach Soccer Ghana when he first took office and has begun to take action on his promise with a contribution towards the up coming One Ghana Unity Cup which kicks off on Saturday 15th July.
The flamboyant Mayor also donated a glittering giant golden cup to be given to the champions of the three day beach soccer festival.
The maiden edition of the One Ghana Unity Cup will see the best players from the four main coastal regions (Greater Accra, Volta, Central and Western regions) face each other in what will be the first of many inter regional beach soccer tournaments.
The competition is set to be used as a marker to select the best players for the national team the Black Sharks.
The Sharks will play their Kenyan counterparts in the first round of the two leg AFCON 2016 beach soccer qualifier.
Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing One Ghana peace and Unity initiative, organisers have confirmed that they will join El Wak Keep Fit Club for a mega walk which is expected to be graced by H.E President John Dramani Mahama.
