Twumasi Honoured With Black Stars Call-Up

Newly invited Ghana Black Stars forward, Patrick Twumasi has expressed delight at being invited to represent the nation.


Coach Avram Grant called up a 23-man squad to prepare for African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2017 qualifier against, Mauritius on Sunday, June 5 but had 18 players present as he led the side train at the Accra Sports Stadium.


Twumasi who plays for FC Astana in the Kazakhstan Premier League joined the Black Stars for the first time after a impressive season in both the domestic league and the 2015/16 UEFA Champions league (especially in the group stages).


Speaking to the media after the sides training, the 22-year-old mentioned of his excitement to represent the nation.


“It is a great feeling and I am honoured, feel very good and was happy to receive the call up. It does not matter the position I am made to play in the team, what matters the most is the team performs well and qualify for the AFCON 2017 in Gabon.”


He added, “to have received the call up is just a dream come true for me.”
