GFA Ban Gyandu Park


The Ghana Football Association has temporary banned the use of the Nana Gyandu Park in Sekondi.


The decision comes after coach of Elmina Sharks Kwabena Amissah was beaten to collapse in his team’s game against Proud United FC on Saturday, May 28, 2016.u


In a letter from the Ghana Football Association addressed to the Chief Executive of Proud United FC, Ghana’s football governing body wrote:


“The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association has ordered the TEMPORARY BAN on the use of Sekondi Gyandu Park as the venue for Division One league matches with immediate effect.


This decision has become necessary due to the unfortunate t that occurred during Match Day 13 between Proud United FC and Elmina Sharks FC played on Saturday, 28th May, 2016.


“This decision is in accordance with Article 15(2) of the GFA General Regulations which states that “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed”.


“We are by a copy of this letter asking the Division One League Board to determine the venue for the affected Clubs’ subsequent home matches in accordance with the provision of Article 15(3) of the GFA General Regulations.


“This order is without prejudice to the determination of the case pending before the Disciplinary Committee.


“Meanwhile, the Disciplinary Committee has been charged to hear the case in accordance with the GFA Regulations.


“Please accept for strict compliance.”
