Explosive Wa All Stars Tames Berekum Chelsea At The Golden City Park

Ghana Premier league leaders Wa All Stars consolidated their lead at the top of the log with a league leading win at the Golden City park.

The Northern Blues tamed the true blues away drom home to end an impressive first round on top of the log.

A late strike from inform attacker Richard Arthur separated the two sides in the final hurdle of the first round and a place at the top of the log

The visitors made one Change to the side that ended Kotoko’s four match winning streak with Samuel Atta Mensah filling in for the crocked Maxwell Baako.

An explosive start to the game pinned Berekum Chelsea to their back yard with Arthur, Yeboah and Ocran all trying their luck in a vintage first quarter for the visitors.

The host however responded in grand style with a pile drive from Saddick Adams stinging the gloves of Ofori.

A strong end to the first half was marred by a muscle tear picked by Emmanuel Ocran who paved way for Mumuni Wahidu.

Wa All Stars however refused to settle for a point and poured forward with choking and suffocating attacks on the 2010 league champions which eventually yielded dividends.

A masterful and defense splitting pass from Maxwell Atta Mensah caught the back line of Chelsea and fell kindly for captain Hafiz Adams who darts forward before selflessly teeing up Arthur for the winner on 80 minutes.

The visitors followed up the opener with calculated football good enough to draw applause from the home fans and was inches away from the second when John Moosie tipped Atta Kofi’s devilish shot away from home.

Enos Adepa Kwame and his high flying visitors ended the game strongly with more attempts in the last 3 minutes than Berekum Chelsea managed all game.

The Wa based side thus ended the first half of the season as mid season champions with 28 points and 17 goals to their name.
