GPL Matchday 15 Preview: Liberty Professionals To Sink Ebusua Dwarfs

Liberty Professionals can end the first round of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) on top of the ladder if they can win their home game with Ebusua Dwarfs and other results go their way.

The ‘Scientific Soccer’ lads have been one of the form sides in the GPL this first round, and, will be tops of the table at the half way point all things being equal.

They comfortably beat Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 in midweek at an empty Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday, and, confidence in their camp will soar as they welcome relegation threatened Dwarfs to the Carl Reindorf Park, Dansoman.

Liberty are also one of the most formidable sides at home, and, will be difficult to break down as they seek their eighth win of the campaign.

Coach George Lamptey’s side has 23 points and sits in fourth position on the ladder, with a game in hand. Should they win on Sunday and their outstanding encounter with Medeama SC also at home, they will top the standing at the midway point no matter what.

They will therefore be up for this one as they chase the three points, before battling Medeama next week for a chance to top the table as they chase their first major silverware in the Ghanaian game.

Dwarfs has been poor since their return to the top-flight this season, and, will need to double up if they are to avoid playing division one football next season.

Newly appointed head coach, Prosper Narteh therefore has a job on his hands in trying to turn things around for the Abontoa Abontoa Boys, but, he couldn’t have asked for more in the shape of Liberty Professionals.

They did win their last game 2-1 against Aduana Stars at home, and, maybe this could be the tonic they needed to spark a revival.

Head to Head

Total matches played = 14

Liberty Professionals wins = 7

Ebusua Dwarfs wins = 4
