How Much Did Ghalca Prez Cup Participants?

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), paid some participating clubs in this year’s President’s Cup GH¢ 1000.00, Sportscrusader.com can confirm.

The Association, which is the mother body of all league clubs in the country, in its bid to ensure its members are not sidelined, spread the annual cup match played in honour of the sitting President on Republic Day across the country.

The main match which was played in Accra between Ghana’s glamorous clubs, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko had the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye in attendance.

The two clubs were given GH¢ 50,000.00 each to participate, whilst the other clubs in other regions were given GH¢ 1000.00.

It is unclear why the remaining clubs were given such a paltry amount, but sources say the association is financially handicapped and could not afford to pay all the participating clubs equal participation fee.
