Italian powerhouse, S. S. C. Napoli has insisted that their star striker Gonzalo Higuain is staying at the club for the 2016/17 football season.
Club President Aurello De Laurentis has rubbished rumours that the Argentine is set to leave the Stadio San Paolo and expects their top marksman to continue working with head coach Maurizio Sarri next season.
His sentiments have been reechoed by the club’s head of communication, Nicola Lombardo, who said Higuain is going nowhere and will stay with the club for the upcoming season in Seria A.
“We expect Higuain to report at the pre-season training base in Dimaro on July 25 to team up with the rest of the squad as we prepare for next season”, Lombardo said of the Argentine.
He denied that fellow Italians Juventus have made an offer for Higuain and said even that one was made, it would be rejected outright.
There have been reported rumours in England that the Argentine in interesting clubs in the Premiership with Arsenal and Chelsea believed to be monitoring his situation.
Higuain scored 36 goals to win the Capocannoniere (top scorer award) in Seria A last season as Napoli finished second behind Juventus in the title race.
