Hearts of Oak were also out to revenge the defeat they suffered earlier this season after Soulaman Abdoulaye’s howler gifted Kotoko a fortuitous victory two months ago.

The stage was set for a perfect afternoon, but chances were far and even for both sides as they game a battle of the midfielders, however, Patrick Razak will be cursing his stars for failing to win the game for Hearts within the regulations time.

His nightmare of poor finishing deep into the second half when he had only Ernest Sowah, but his effort went agonizingly wide by inches.

With neither side breaking the virginity of the game, it was decided on penalties, and Kotoko were more clinical, dispatching three of their five kicks with success whilst could only manage two.
