The qualifiers to the 12th Edition of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Madagascar 2017 continues this weekend with matches across the continent as countries aim to qualify to the event next year.
In these first round second leg ties, Algeria booked their place in the second round after winning their return leg 2-1 at home to Libya to advance on the away goals rule after the tie ended 4-4 on aggregate. They lost the first leg tie 3-2.
Sudan are all but through to the next stage of the qualifiers after they won their first leg tie 8-0 over Djibouti. They are strongly favoured to advance to the second round after today’s second lrg tie in Djibouti City.
In tomorrow’s games, Tanzania will be out to protect their 3-0 first leg win when they visit Seychelles to play their return leg encounter.
Morocco will fancy their chances of advancing to the second round when they host Mauritania after losing the first leg tie 0-1 away.
Namibia will take a 1-0 first leg victory into their second leg tie against Botswana also on Saturday with the aggregate winners advancing to the second round of the qualifiers.
The qualification process has been hit by some withdrawals with Ghana booking their place to the next round after Liberia withdrew.
Also through to the next stage are Benin thanks to Sierra Leone pulling out; Chad are also through after DR Congo’s withdrawal; Kenya had a walkover Malawi as did Mauritius following Lesotho’s no show with the Islanders of Comoros advancing at the expense of Zimbabwe.
