MTN FA PREVIEW: Wa All Stars Host Mighty Royals In Last 16 Ties

Premiership campaigners WA All stars welcome Wamanafo based Mighty Royals to the Wa Sports stadium for a place in the last 8 of the 2016 FA Cup.

The host geared up for the cup tie with a painful 3-1 defeat away to Techiman City in the premier league but will be switching their attention to the giant killers in the domestic cup on Sunday, May 15, 2016.

Enos Adepa and his side will be gunning for their first ever strike in the FA Cup after recording a stalemate in their only match honoured in the competition thus far.

Wa All Stars progressed to the last 32 stage of the competition without kicking a ball after their opponents (Berekum Arsenal) pulled out of the competition due to financial constraints and needed the lottery of shootouts to oustTechiman in last 32 pairings.

The visitors, Mighty Royals booked their place in the last 16 at the expense of King Faisal Babies and AC Milan in the opening two rounds of the competitions respectively to earn their dream trip to the Wa Park.

The Brong Ahafo based second tier side heads to the upper west region with a decent run of matches in the division one league but will have to punch above their limits to end the cup campaign of their host when they take to the pitch at Wa.

Wa All Stars last home defeat in the FA Cup dates back to 2012 when they crushed out to Medeama SC via the lottery of the 12 yards.

The host have been rocked by injuries and national call ups in recent matches but a place in the last 8 of the MTN FA Cup will be enough motivation to cheer the ambitious side on.

Enos Adepa masterminded Wa All Stars best ever start to a top flight season with 20 points in the opening 10 rounds of the season despite recording three straight away defeats in a row.

The lively Maxwell Baako ‘Messi’ set the Techiman City Park ablaze with his quick feet and will be tasked with replicating such feats when the royal club come visiting.

“It is an FA cup and comes with its own affection and motivation.

We are not underestimating any side because they are here on merit and must be respected for that matter.

To seal a place in the last 16 is enough for us to know their worth and we are bent on progressing into the last 8 teams left in the competition”, Nicholas Mensah revealed.

Wa All Stars will be looking to fine tune their preparation for the midweek premier league clash at home to WAFA with a vintage performance in the cup game as they look to reincarnate their flamboyant form.
