Dauda Not For Sale - Kotoko

Managers of Kotoko have stated categorically that, they will not sell young striker, Dauda Mohammed to any club in Ghana. They say Dauda Mohammed, in the worst case scenario of unavoidable transfer, will be sold to a European club should there be good offers for him.

Some clubs in the country – notably Dreams FC reportedly requested the services of the teenage goal poacher – a development that amused the management and fans of Kotoko.

Reacting to the story as to whether or not, Dauda Mohammed would leave Kotoko for Dreams FC, General Manager, Opoku Nti pointed out that, the striker was going nowhere.

“We can’t and won’t sell Dauda Mohammed to any club in Ghana. We are not even thinking of that in the first place. He’s not for sale” said the General Manager.

“Let me however point out that, should we receive good offers for him from Europe for instance, why not, we will consider that” Opoku Nti added.

Asked whether management wouldn’t reconsider their decision should any local club make a huge financial bid for Dauda, Opoku Nti reiterated management’s stance. “Let me be emphatic. Dauda Mohammed isn’t for sale.

“We are not thinking of that. Dreams FC might have done the right thing by officially writing to us and showing interest in the player. However our response to them was straightforward. The player isn’t for sale” he stressed.

Meanwhile at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday where Kotoko beat Inter Allies 1-0 on match day 13 of the 2015/16 Premier League, interviews conducted by Asantekotokosc.com on the issue even angered some fans.

“It’s illogical that, a domestic newly promoted club would ask for the services of Dauda. Why do they want to destroy our team? This is unbelievable. Dauda is our main striker. Why do we have to sell him” asked Joseph Mensah from Asokwa.

“I hear Dreams FC wanted him. Are they not the same club that boasted that no Kotoko player would make their team? Why will they want a player from Kotoko when none of our players can make their squad? This is an insult to our intelligence.

“I would be very disappointed if management takes that decision. They shouldn’t try it. Dauda shouldn’t be sold please” said Prince Asare, another Asokwa based supporter.

Dauda Mohammed has been Kotoko’s potent striker with four goals now in the league. In the same competition last season, he scored eight goals. There’s evidence to show that, the young marksman, recruited from lower division side, Global Stars, Accra, in August 2014 has been growing from strength to strength.

His contract with Kotoko runs until August 2017. The future is bright for him if he continues working diligently on his performance. Kotoko have the wherewithal to offer the budding striker the right platform for his development.
