The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the international friendly against Guinea has been cancelled.
The game which was scheduled for Saturday 28th May, 2016 in France has been called off, after Guinea pulled out.
“We received a letter from the match agent of our friendly game against Guinea that Guinea has pulled out of the game,” George Afriyie, the Black Stars management committee chairman told Happy FM.
“We had wanted to use the game to prepare for the (Afcon) qualifier against Mauritius. We are all aware that the FIFA holiday will be on June 7 so this game is not an official one. Moreover, there was a back and forth regarding the match because the arrangements came late.” He said.
He added that “the GFA will not be cocompensated by the organisers due to Guinea’s inability to honour the game.”
“However, we are working on arranging a friendly on 7 June which is a FIFA holiday.”
George Afriyie also revealed that Black Stars coach Avram Grant is expected in the country soon.
