Accra Hearts of Oak retained their leadership of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) table after earning a valuable point at Dormaa in their top-of-the-table clash with Aduana Stars on Sunday.
The result also meant the Phobians kept their unbeaten away record this season as they played out a 1-1 draw with the home side at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park, Dormaa.
It was a game Aduana Stars dominated the first half and duly went into the break with the lead as Emmanuel Akuoko nodded home a free kick by fellow defender and captain, Godfred Saka with the Hearts back line caught ball watching.
Aduana Stars could have scored a couple more, but, the defence of Hearts marshalled by Captain Robin Gnange stood tall to the test and kept quiet Yahaya Mohammed who went into this game with nine goals in 12 games to his credit.
Hearts came back strongly in the second session as they fought to get back on level terms, and, were rewarded for their efforts as Cosmos Dauda found the net.
It came after a good run by substitute Sam Ayew Yeboah, who crossed for Dauda to easily tap in for the equalizer.
Both sides went for it in the final few moments of the game, but, the defence of both sides held on well as the top liner of the GPL matchday 13 fixtures ended 1-1 at Dormaa.
Hearts still lead the ladder by two points as they have 25 points from their 13 games with Aduana Stars who could have gone top with a win, on 23 with three games to end the first round of the competition.
