‘Charles Kwabena Akunnor’s position as Dreams FC coach hangs by a thread’ after the Premier League debutants were annihilated 4-0 by Aduana Stars — their heaviest defeat since joining top flight domestic league football greeted the former Eleven Wise boss on Tuesday.
After successful start to the Ghana Premier League which saw them placed 3rd on the league log after 10 matches, the Kweiman-based club relinquished their position to Aduana Stars who massacred them at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park last Sunday.
And reports emanated that the hierarchy of the club is considering parting ways with the man who led them to gain promotion to the league as winners of Zone III of the Division One league last season.
But Akunnor, who saw them thrashed on Week 11 of the ongoing season insist his job is not on the line, and accused people of creating stories to distract him.
“There are people who are wishing you a bad luck and they try to create stories every now and then to distract your focus,” Mr. Akunnor told Joy FM.
However, the 42-year-old is adamant the reports will not take away his attention.
“When these stories come up, you have to accept and don’t get distracted.
“It is important that as a coach I am focused on doing what I am here for. Whatever is happening around the team is normal.
“When you don’t do well, stories come up, when you’re doing well, you’re the best coach in the world. These things are normal. I have experienced that for sometime now, so nothing has changed (since the reports broke). I am willing to work and I will continue to work to make sure that things get better.” He said.
C.K Akunnor joined Dreams FC after he was sacked by Accra Hearts of Oak in the 2012-13 Premier League season.
