GPL Report: Yahaya Break Liberty Prison

Liberty Professionals succumbed to their first home defeat of the 2015-16 Ghana premier league (GPL), when they hosted Aduana Stars.







Liberty v AduanaLatif Blessing scored early on, but Zakaria Mumuni scored 8 minutes after Liberty had taken lead on the 4th minute. Ebo Mends nodded home the Scientific Soccer Lads second on the day, but Yahaya Mohammed and Derrick Sasraku scored late to earn Aduana their first victory away from home.


The game began with Liberty pinning Aduana to the wall, and they deservedly earned their lead 4 minutes into the game.


Eight minutes later, Zakaria Mumuni thumped in the equaliser with powerful header from Bright Adjei’s pinpoint cross into the box.


Liberty v AduanaAduana exerted their presence on the game there on, but failed to find the breakthrough needed. Liberty were well organised, but blunt upfront.


Neither side could score again until the final whistle for recess. The Scientific Soccer Lads came out of their blocks in the second half, and took the lead through Ebo Mends after 65 minutes.


As the clocked ticked on, Liberty looked very comfortable on the ball and seemed to be heading to victory, but a rare error by the industrious Gerald Arkson gifted Yahaya Mohammed the opportunity to draw Aduana level.


Liberty v AduanaThe 22-year-old mistimed the play and headed the ball back to his goalkeeper from, but Yahaya Mohammed intercepted, and stroke home the equaliser on the 76 minutes.


Liberty piled pressure to earn all three points, but substitute Derrick Sasraku scored late into injury time to earn Aduana their first win away from home, while suffer their first defeat at the Karl Reindolf Park this year.
