Cup Final Comes Too Soon For Shaw

Luke Shaw’s hopes of making a dramatic return to action in the FA Cup final seem to have been dashed following Louis van Gaal’s latest update on the Manchester United left-back.

The Reds’ manager told MUTV in an exclusive interview on Friday afternoon: “I have always said to him that he can play in the final to keep his motivation high, but now I cannot say that anymore because we are in the final [next weekend].

“It is a pity because he cannot reach that level to play. He needs more time to play.

“His motivation is still high and I have to give compliments to him because it is not easy to be away for such a long time.

“He is coming back, but he is coming back next season.”

Shaw suffered a double fracture of the leg when playing against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions league last September and had to spend many months recuperating in the gym before returning to outdoor training with a club physiotherapist in early April.
