Ayew Declares Champions League Desire This Summer

Ghanaian International  Andre Ayew has reiterated his desire to play in the UEFA Champions League this summer, after Swansea City have softened their grasp on the star player who wants out of the club.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a fine first season at the Liberty Stadium, having joined the Swans on a free transfer after many years on the books of Olympique Marseille.

Swansea have reportedly now softened their stance and will now listen to offers for the player, who scored 12 goals in 34 Premier League appearances.

Ayew told French television channel TF1 that he enjoyed his first campaign in the Premier League, but went on to explain that he hopes to play in the elite competitions and revealed that other clubs are ‘interested’ in his services.

“I like England. I feel good at Swansea. It was a good year for me. The season was good on a personal level,” Ayew said on TF1.

“Of course, every player wants to play for the Champions League or the title.

“A time will come when I’ll aim for these. I won’t talk a lot but with what I’ve accomplished this season, clubs are interested in me. Later, we will see [what happens].”

Ayew missed Ghana’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique in March because of an injury, but will definitely be named in Avram Grant squad to  face Guinea later this month and the crucial African Nations Cup qualifier with Mauritius in June.
