Anlo Ladies Football Club have qualified to represent the Volta Region in the Maiden edition of the National Women’s Knock-out competition.
The Keta based club defied all odds and emerged winners of a one day gala competition organized by the Volta Regional Women’s Football Committee at the Police Depot Park last Sunday.
They demolished ‘Hands are blessed’ by 9 unanswered goals in regulation time in Group B of the gala and later had to beat Dynamo Ladies 3-0 on penalties after a 0-0 draw game. Their final match however was against Redeem ladies who qualified from group A and they won by 1-0.
The club which formed last year, has had few friendly matches including a home and away thrashing of Dzopia Queens of Dzodze in their preparation towards the just ended gala.
And Speaking to reporters after his side’s triumph, Anlo Ladies Head Coach, Julius Caesar says they feel proud qualifying to represent the Volta region at the Maiden National Women’s League ‘Knockout’ competition.
“I feel super excited because looking at our club, Anlo ladies, we are a new club in the region and we’ve not played so many matches before this particular maiden knockout gala competition held at Ho. And also looking at the fact that the old clubs also partaking and we winning, we should be proud of this particular achievement”, Cesar said
The draw for the Women’s League knockout is expected to come off next week.
