Ghana’s female weightlifter, Ruth Baffoe, has won three bronze medals in the ongoing Africa Senior Weightlifting Championship in Yaounde, Cameroun.
Ruth won her first bronze medal with a lift of 53 kg, added the second with a snatch of 69 kg and followed it up with a clean jerk of 82 kg at the championship, which also serves as the African qualifier for the Rio Olympic Games.
The female weightlifter was the only female athlete going to the competition hopeful was among a 10-member delegation, comprising seven weightlifting athletes and three officials who left the country last Friday for the competition which ends on Friday, 14 May 2016.
The other participant which include Christian Amoah, Forrester Osei, Prince Nyarko, Theophilus Tackie, Nii Dario Dodoo, David Akwei will be looking forward to improve their points build system to increase their chances of going to the mega sporting event in Rio which less than 100 days away
