Kotoko Duo Discharged From Hospital


Kotoko players who sustained head injuries in Sunday’s 2015/16 Premier League, match 16 day fixture at Techiman have been treated and discharged at the Holy Family Hospital, Techiman.  




 


Midfielder Theophilus Nyame and centre back, Evans Quao suffered cuts on their heads in the 74th and 81st minutes respectively after a collision with their markers in separate incidents.


Whereas Evans Quao continued play after his incident with Stephen Manu with his head bandaged; Theophilus Nyame, who collided with Yussif Hussein was hurriedly driven to the hospital from the park in an ambulance. The two players were treated and discharged by the hospital before they joined their colleagues back to Kumasi.


In the game itself, Stephen Manu opened scoring for Techiman City in the 26th minute while Amos Frimpong canceled the deficit for Kotoko ten minutes after the interval. Baba Mahama fell in the box in the 23rd minute, pretending to have been fouled and Referee Daniel Laryea awarded a doubtful penalty kick, which was converted by Stephen Manu.


Kotoko preserved to contain the pressure from the Techiman City, whose confidence shot up after their opener. A series of missed chances by Kotoko left their teeming supporters very anxious and agitated. They frantically expected the equaliser anytime the team attacked.


Thankfully, the supporters’ expectations were met in the 55th minute when Amos Frimpong excellently headed home a beautifully floated corner kick by hard working Frank Sarfo Gyamfi.


With 27 points, Kotoko stay at third position. Wa All Stars lead the pack with 31 points. Arch rivals Hearts of Oak are second with 29 points following their 1-0 home win over Dreams FC.
