Liberty Coach Bemoans Poor Display

Head Coach of Liberty Professionals, George Lamptey has said that his side did not play well during their 1-1 with Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Hearts started the game the strongest and their effort in the first half was paid off when inform striker Cosmos Dauda beat his marker to give them the lead on 29 miss.

But the Scientific Soccer Lads recovered their rhythm in the second half, getting the equalizer through striker Bernard Arthur who was later sent off for a second yellow card.

However, the Dansoman based side could not go on to win the ties despite some obvious lapses in the Phobians defense.

And addressing the media after the game, Trainer George Lamptey expressed dissatisfaction about his side’s performance.

According to him, Liberty could have easily repeated what happened in the in the first round had they played a little bit better.

He indicated that Hearts of Oak style of play in the game made it difficult for his players to adopt.

Lamptey further revealed the reason behind his decision to start the with the traditional 4:4:2 formation instead of the usual 4:3:3.

“I decided to go with the 4:4:2 because of officiating in recent times. Referees don’t protect Blessing if he is playing central so I decided to play him on the wings to protect him.

“But once we went down, I had to revert to our normal style and we equalized “, Lamptey concluded.
