AC Milan Agree Montella Deal

A deal has been agreed between AC Milan and Sampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella, with the Rossoneri ready to pay an annual €2.3 million for his services.

However, although the two parties are content with the deal, Sampdoria have a clause blocking the deal in an attempt to keep their coach and Milan will have to pay to buy-out that particular clause in his contract.

Successful meetings between vice-president Adriano Galliani and Montella’s agent took place on Monday night, with President Silvio Berlusconi happy to close the deal on a two-year contract for Montella.

With just this one last step to be completed, it is believed a fee of €1.1 million, paid to Sampdoria, will be enough to confirm Montella’s appointment at the San Siro.

The 42-year-old was in charge of Catania and Fiorentina before making the move to the Blucerchiati last year, and an official announcement confirming the appointment is expected to be made soon.

He will take over from Cristian Brocchi who oversaw the latter stages of a disappointing Diavolo campaign last year, and who is now ready to step down.
