Football manager Bobby Motaung confirmed that they held talks with former Maritzburg United coach Mandla Ncikazi before he joined Golden Arrows.

The former Ghana international reunites with Komphela having worked with him at Maritzburg United two seasons ago.

“Mandla came for an interview but he was approached by Arrows. We engaged him,” Motaung told reporters.

Komphela shed light on the decision to appoint Paintsil, saying that he was the perfect candidate for the job.

Paintsil brings a lot of experience as a former football, having played for Ghana national team for many years.

“This guy has a pedigree. He’s been to three World Cups,” said Komphela of Paintsil.

“We are delighted to have him at the club,” he added.
