GPL Match Report: McCarthy Scores In Dreams Win Over Edubiase

Dreams FC Goalkeeper, Philemon McCarthy made became the first gloves man to score in the Premier League this season when he opened the scoring during his house side’s 2-0 win over New Edubiase at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday.


The former Black Stars stopper, so it his side into the lead just 10 minutes into the second half with a great finish before forward Eric Gawu scored a second to seal the victory for the Dawu based side.


New Edubiase, before the opening goal had looked solid in defense denying Dreams on a number of occasions.


However, with just 10 minutes into the second half, Edubiase were shocked by Dreams FC with the goal coming from an unlikely source.


Goalkeeper, Philemon McCarthy, in his attempt to clear his lines saw a fairly harmless hit the back of the Edubiase net, becoming the first goalkeeper to score in this season’s league.


Dreams, after taking the lead continued to pile pressure on the visiting team in the dying embers of the week 17 encounter.


The consistent pressure from the newly promoted side paid off when veteran striker, Eric Gawu, coming off the bench, managed to beat his marker to score his second goal of the season to seal the victory for coach CK Akonnor’s m
