I Don"t Have Issues Against Local Players, But... - Grunsah

Founder and bankroller of King Faisal FC, Alhaji Karim Grunsah, has shared his thoughts on the use of local players for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium, as suggested by Minister of Youth and Sports (MoYS), Honourable Nii Lantey Vanderpuye.

Recently, the MoYS was keen on the need to use local players for the said game because of the availability of funds but, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), on the other hand, deemed it inappropriate, considering the processes involved in the invitation of players to the national team and, the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda next month.

In an interview with Sportscrusader.com after Black Stars’ first training session, Alhaji Grunsah said; “I’m not against local players playing this match against Rwanda, but I think the MoYs should have done this some months earlier, considering the procedures involved in players’ call-up to the national team.

He added; “I have personally instructed the GFA to meet with MoYS as soon as possible because of the impending World Cup qualifiers which I think is very paramount among many Ghanaians.”

The Black Stars will play Rwanda on Saturday, September 3, 2016 before traveling to Moscow to face Russia in an international friendly match.
