GPL Round Up: All Stars Lead, Bechem End Hearts" Title Hopes

The race for the Ghana Premier league’s ultimate trophy heats up with three rounds of fixtures left to be honoured.

Accra Hearts of Oak saw their title dreams dashed at the Nana Gyereboah  Fosu Park whiles Wa All Stars drew ever closer to the promise land.

At the Wa Park,  Emmanuel Ocran bagged a treble to hand his side a 3-1 win over Dreams FC to open a three-point lead at the summit. The league leaders eased their way past a disjointed Dreams FC side that look tired after a lengthy trip to Wa.

A consolation strike from Ben Nash Quansah, toned down the score but was not enough to deny Ocran his treble of goals, the first from an All Stars player in 1,365 days.

Hearts of Oak endured a nightmare trip to Bechem with 3 goals from in-form attacker, Abednego Tetteh. The lanky attacker racked home three goals against a sinking Oak tree to hand the Hunters a 3-1 win.

The defeat thus, puts Hearts of Oak in the wrong lane in the race for the Ghana Premier league trophy.

At the Tema park, Inter Allies relegated New Edubiase in grand style. The Eleven-is-To-One racked in 4 goals against the whipping boys, thanks to a brace from Prince Baffoe and a goal each from Ropapa Mensah and Emmanuel Nettey. The host cushioned themselves in the relegation battle ahead of their trip to Dawu.

At the Sogakope Astro pitch, Komlan Agbediane denied Aduana Stars a priceless win with a late equaliser after an opening goal from Bright Adjei.

Adjei opened the scoring for the Ogya boys but the Togolese import tied the scores at 1-1.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko panned out a dull stalemate at home to Berekum Chelsea. The Reds remained in the fourth slot though, but their lack of goals makes them shaky.

Elsewhere, in Obuasi, Emmanuel Osei Baffuor handed the Miners a 1-0 win over Hasaacas despite their wasteful shooting at the Len Clay.

The reigning champions move into the ninth slot with three games to end the season.

At the Nana Ohene Ameyaw park, Techiman City rescued a late point from Liberty Professionals. A stupendous finish from Fatawu Abdul Rahman  canceled out Issah Mohammed’s goal for the scientific soccer lads.

At the Robert Mensah stadium in Cape Coast, Mysterious Abusua Dwarfs slumped to a second straight defeat at the hands of Medeama SC. Enoch Atta Agyei, warmed up for his trip to Azam with the match winner for the Tarkwa-based visitors.

With three more rounds to the end of the season,  could we have asked for a more competitive league ?
