Black Stars forward, Patrick Twumasi, powered his Kazakhstani side into the group stages of the UEFA Europa league with a crucial away goal.
The Astana centre-forward was outstanding for his side in a thrilling 2-2 drawn game with Bate Borisov before a late leveller rescued a point for the evicted host.
Astana headed into the fixture with a 2-0 lead from the first leg’s win but, had to settle for a point in the return leg, thanks to a 76th minute strike from their Ghanaian hitman.
Astana starred prominently in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League largely due to the goal-scoring heroics of Twumasi, who remains the first player in the history of the club to have scored a Champions League goal in the group stages.
Patrick and his colleagues will now have to wait for their group stage opponents later on Friday, August 26, 2016.
