Nii Lantey"s Not A Law Unto Himself - Nyantakyi

The president of Ghana Football Association(GFA), Kwasi Nyantakyi, has severely lashed out at the Minister for Youth and Sports, Honourable Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, over his criticism of the Ghana Premier league and other issues regarding the FA.

The FA president, in his rebuttal, described the minister’s attitude as similar to that of a ‘serial caller’ over his ‘unattractive’ description of the GPL and, further went on to caution the sector minister over his autocratic leadership style which could lead to his eventually failure.

The President deemed that as inappropriate, as to how the Minister used the media outlets to share his views on the GPL and issues concerning the Black Stars. He felt they could have had a round-table discussion on such issues instead.

He said; “Have I said anything negative about the ministry or minister?…No, I haven’t… he has said negative things publicly and even if they were [true], as a collaborator of the FA, nothing prevents him from inviting the Association to a meeting to discuss them.

“That’s the approach and that shows maturity and professionalism… when you take your problems out without any effort to solve them, it shows a certain amateurism which I don’t think is the case.”

Mr. Nyantakyi, who also questioned the involvement of government in the local league, added; “the question is that, what has government been doing to help?… That’s what I expect the minister to be doing and not criticize the league without facts like a serial caller.

“Maybe he has an issue with the GFA. I am not happy with his style of management. He should ensure he adopts excellent interpersonal skills.

“You can’t deal with the GFA as if you are a law unto yourself. In this case, you are bound to fail.”
