Mexican Senator To Run in Millennium Marathon

Mexican Senator and former track and field athletes, Ana Guevara will participate in the 2016 Accra Millennium Marathon, SportsCrusader.com has gathered.


The 39-year old retired sprinter is one of many high profile international athletes who will line up for the September 3 showpiece.


Ana began her career in 1996 carrying out diverse tours, participating in her first international competitions.


Two years later, she won two silver medals in the

Central American and Caribbean Games in the 400 and 800 meters .


Her first major victory was the gold medal in the 400m at the 1999 Pan American Games in Canada a year before she qualified to the 2000 Sydney Olympics.


Ana Guevara qualified for a second successive Olympic game in Athens in 2004, winning a silver medal in 400m.


She retired from active sports in 2008 and entered into politics a year later, standing as the PRD candidate for Miguel Hidalgo Delegation in Mexico City losing to Demetrio Sodi.


Ana Guevara became a Mexican Senator for the 2012-2018 term having been postulated by the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), the Labor Party (PT), and Citizen Movement Party.
