Accra Hearts second choice goalkeeper, Samuel Akurugu has expressed satisfaction with his performance for the Rainbow club thus far.
The former Sekondi Hasaacas goalie has taken full advantage of number goalie (Soulama Abdoulae) absence (since his howler cost the team a home defeat to sworn defeat Kotoko and was later sent off for a foul on Dauda Mohammed in their match week 10 encounter).
Nicknamed, Fabien Barthez after his hero and former French number one, the skin-haired goalie took to his Facebook wall to appreciate an impressive league season.
“I have exceeded my personal expectation so far for the campaign. But that does not mean I am not going to work hard at all times. My realistic target this season is to understudy my senior colleague Soulama Abdoulaye and be able to be of help to the team when the need arises and I think I have done that so far,” Akrugu wrote on his wall.
“My best game of the first round was against Medeama but I had an off day against Wa All Stars. But I believe all those are things I can learn from. I want to improve as a keeper and a player for this great club and I am working extremely hard to do that for the team.”
“The first round has been very kind to me and I pray that I get a better second round when we come back. I have been well received by the players and the fans I can confidently say the only way is up for me.”
