TP Medeama Maul Medeama In Confed Cup

TP Mazembe thrashed Medeama in the pairs opening game of the CAF Confederations Cup group stages.


The Mauves and Yellow went into the game as under-dogs looking to start well in their debut game of the preliminary stage of the continental club competition.


Moses Sarpong assisted talented midfielder tough tackling midfielder, Malik Akowuah with a leading pass to score the Tarkwa based club only goal with a powerful strike from 20 yards in less than 5 minutes.


TP Mazembe, the home side appeared a wounded lion as they mounted endless pressure in their quest for the much needed equalizer and deservedly were rewarded as Rainford Kalaba tapped into the top left corner from a Solomon Asante low pass.







The 2014-15 CAF Champions League winners punished the Ghana MTN FA Cup defending champions as a poorly defended corner kick saw TP Mazembe score the second goal late in the first half as Salif Coulibaly tapped into goalkeeper, Muntari Tagoe’s net unmarked at the far post.

In the 68th minute, Kalaba got his registered his second on the day when he easily weaved passed Medeama right-back, Daniel Addo and beautifully curled in from outside.


Medeama huffed and puffed but couldn’t fight back as they returned home with a day 1 defeat.
