Jose Mourinho helped oversee a first win at Old Trafford since being appointed Manchester United manager, as 10-man England beat Claudio Ranieri’s Rest of the World side 3-2 in Soccer Aid 2016.
The Reds’ boss watched on from the stands as the side he co-managed with Sam Allardyce ran out deserved winners on the night thanks to a Jermain Defoe double and a lovely free-kick from TV personality and Man of the Match Mark Wright, despite the dismissal of Ben Shephard for two yellow cards.
Former United striker Dimitar Berbatov netted twice for the Rest of the World, including a coolly-taken penalty, but it wasn’t enough for Ranieri’s men as Robbie Williams and co. held on for the victory.
It was an event which raised millions of pounds for UNICEF and featured an appearance from Guest of Honour, Pele.
