CAF CC: Medeama Battle Bejaia

Ghana’s sole representative in Africa’s Club competition, Medeama SC, will battle Algerian side MO Bejaia for a place in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in Bejaia today.

The Algerians have five points in Group A and will need to claim an outright victory to progress to the final four of the competition.

Both sides drew when they met in the first encounter at the Essipong stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi.

Bejaia would have been in a much more promising position had they claimed victory when they played away to Young Africans earlier this month, but they suffered a surprise 1-0 loss in Dar Es Salaam.

The main beneficiaries of that result were Medeama, after their famous victory at home to TP Mazembe, a week and a half ago push themselves in second place.

Medeama needs only avoid defeat in Algeria to secure progression, whilst group leaders, TP Mazembe, will play Young Africans in Lubumbashi, having already qualified to the next round.

The match will kick-off at 17h30 GMT and will be refereed by Senegalese Maguette N’Diaye.
