Black Stars Duo Delighted With AFCON Qualification

Ghanaian duo, Christian Atsu and Andre Ayew have expressed delight after their goals helped the Blacjk Stars seal qualification to the 2017 African Cup of Nations.


Andre Ayew scored first for Ghana in their penultimate game of the qualifiers against Mauritius on 71 minutes before Malaga’s Chiristian Atsu rounded off the scoring three minutes later at the Stade Anjalay in the Mauritian city of Belle Vue Maurel.


Speaking to reporters after the games, Ayew, who captained the Black Stars in the absence of the injured Asamoah Gyan, described the victory as ‘great’.


“It was a great victory for us and a big motivation to the AFCON tournament. We worked hard and won,” he said.


Atsu took to social media to express his delight for the win.


“Great game from the team. We are through to the 2017 AFCON. Happy to be on the score sheet. Glory be to God and thanks for your support.” He posted on his Instagram page


Ghana finished at the top of Group H with 13 points, while Mauritius remains third on the group standings with one game left.
