Executive Committee member of the GFA, Nana Banyin Eyison, has announced that the FA has all, but, secured a headline sponsor for the Ghana Premier League for the next season.
The elite football division of Ghana has endured a torrid time attracting sponsorship. Unsurprisingly, with seven games to end the 2015/16 season, the FA’s previous efforts, geared towards realising a promise to get the league a sponsor before its end, has proven futile and has caused some clubs to threaten withdrawal from the competition.
But Eyison, who doubles as a member of the management team of premier league side, Sekondi Hasaacas, has given an update on the association’s unrelenting efforts to secure the new season (2016/17) a sponsor and to cushion clubs financially, as well.
Speaking after the unveiling of the new premier league trophy, Eyison said, “come next season, yes! we have lined up a couple of sponsors which I can dare say, negatiations are at 90% level done.
“Infact, some of them were raring to start in the second half of the season, but the league was halfway through and was not possible. But for next season, surely, we will commence with a headline sponsor.”
