West Ham United have moved a step closer to securing the signing of Andre Ayew after agreeing a fee of £20 million with Swansea City.
It was rumoured that the Hammers were in for the attacker last summer when he joined the Swans on a free transfer but, according to Sky Sports, the 26-year-old is close to moving to Slaven Bilic’s side.
The Ghanaian is expected to have his medical in East London over the weekend but the report indicates that Swansea will not sign off the deal unless they are able to add another forward to their ranks.
The south Wales side brought in Fernando Llorente on Friday but want to boost their own options before allowing Ayew, who scored 12 goals in the Premier League last season, to complete his move to the Hammers.
Swansea are reportedly talking to Atletico Madrid about a move to sign unwanted striker Borja Baston to replace Ayew.
The 23-year-old scored 18 La Liga goals while on loan at La Liga minnows Eibar last during the 2015/16 season.
It seems that should those negotiations go well then Ayew will be the latest West Ham recruit in what would be a record-breaking deal for the Irons.
The quoted £20m fee would smash the £15m West Ham paid for Andy Carroll in 2013.
