2018 WCQ ROUND UP: ALGERIA HAMMER TANZANIA TO SEND EARLY SIGNALS

The Desert Foxes of Algeria spanked the Taifa Stars of Tanzania 7-0 to seal an emphatic progress into the third round of the CAF qualification route to Russia 2018.


The Foxes avenged a 2-2 first leg score line to send clear their intention of joining the plane to Russia in two and half years time.


Algeria heads a list of twenty other qualified nations across the continent, which will now be grouped into five groups of four countries each in the last qualification hurdle.


Winners from each of the five gruops will then progress to the global football showpiece in the oil country.


The Foxes confirmed their territorial dominance at home to their toothless Taifa Stars with an emphatic return leg victory to announce their intention on the planet. Braces each from Islam Slimani and Fauoz Ghoulami added to Ryan Mahrez and Yacine Brahimis stunner to condemn Tanzania to 7-0 away defeat and 9-2 on aggregate.


Algeria won over the world football family with historic performances in Brazil notably against Belgium and eventual champions, Germany. Performance like this seemed to booked some advance tickets to Russia ahead of the final groupings.



Ghana and Nigeria both registered 2-0 home wins to seal progress at the expense of Comoros and Swaziland respectively. Efe Ambrose sealed the victory for Olive h’s men while Jordan Ayew unleashed a stunner to add to Wakaso dream free kick earlier on. Ivory Coast spanked Liberia 3-0 to complete a double over the lone stars in a 4-0 aggregate win. Giovanne Sio bagged a brace while Seri condemned the visitors to a heavy defeat. South Africa feasted on the defensive frailties of Angola to seal a 4-0 aggregate win. Angola joined Togo in a lengthy list of casualties.



Congo edged out the Walyas from Ethiopia in a 10 goal thriller. The red devils of Spain based forward Thievy Bifouma racked home the winner in a 2-1 home after a 4-3 thriller in the first leg. Kebede opened the scoring for Ethiopia before Nganga drew parity for Congo three minutes after recess. Biffouma then consolidated the devils ticket with a devilish strike on the hour mark. Uganda ousted Togo out of the route with a strong second leg in a 4-0 landslide win for the cranes.

Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Algeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Senegal, Morroco, Congo, Mali, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Zambia, Libya, Gabon, Guinea, and DR Congo.
The 20 teams will be gruoped into five gruops of four teams as winners progress to Russia 2018.
