"McCarthy Is Back Home"- Coach Sam Addy

Technical director of the West African Football Academy (WAFA), Coach Sam Addy is happy with the return of their former goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy to the Club.

McCarthy who left Hearts of Oak two seasons ago returned to the WAFA formerly Gomaa Fetteh Feyenoord, ahead of the new 2015/16 football season, after over a decade with the Phobians.

WAFA qualified for the premier league during the 2014/15 football season and were one of the most exciting teams to watch, but were let down by inexperience since most of the players were from the colts and lower divisions.

They were nearly relegated, an action the technical team believes needs some experience in their second year in the premiership.

However due to the Club’s policy of nurturing and selling players instead of roping them in, they were silent making only two additions in the persons of Ibrahim Tanko formerly of Mighty Jets and Philemon McCarthy.

“We are all happy that he has returned because he is our son, but we would have wished to see him out there playing in one of the big clubs in Europe.”

“But it’s not too late and anything is possible so we are happy to have him back and know that his experience will benefit us immensely”, Coach Addy mentioned.
