The Mo Ibrahim Foundation Governance Cup match comes off on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium with a local select side, dubbed Dream Team, clashing with newly-crowned CAF Champions League winners, Tout Puissant (TP) Mazembe.

The international friendly, designed to use football to promote African unity, is being organised by Primeval Media, in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the organisers, the Congolese side which will be led by Coach Patrice Carteron, will touch down in their private jet tomorrow ahead of the game against the elite group of players from the premiership and the Division One League, who form the Dream Team.

Coaches of the Dream Team, Charles Kwabla Akonnor and Augustine Ahinful, have described the game as an opportunity for local players to exhibit their skills with the hope of securing a lucrative deal with the African Champions.

The 21-man Dream Team will be boosted by former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, Godwin Attram and Laryea Kingston, who will play as guests for the local side. Their inclusion is expected to pull a big crowd to the Accra Sports Stadium to root for the locals to offer a stiff opposition to the African champions.

TP Mazembe have five Ghanaians – Solomon Asante, Richard Kissi Boateng, Gladson Awako, Yaw Frimpong and Daniel Nii Adjei – in their squad, and the quintet will be looking to make a fairytale return to the country by upsetting their compatriots for yet another trophy.

Spectators are expected to shell out between GH¢ 5 and GH¢ 20 for the game which kicks off at 4.00 p.m. The match will be preceded by musical shows by popular artistes such as Gasmilla and Shatta Wale.
