Eric Donkor preaches against complacency

Kumasi Asante Kotoko flying fullback Eric Donkor has called on his colleagues to rule out complacency ahead of matches if they are to overcome the challenge in the premiership.

The experience defender envisages stronger oppositions from domestic rivals on weekly basis and has urged his colleagues to treat each opponent with utmost respect.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko beefed up their playing squad after a trophy less 2014/15 domestic season.

The in-form wingback has been instrumental for the reds in the off season predatory matches but ruled out any smooth route to the domestic league glory.

The 23 year old National Sports College Academy graduate revealed the self motivation driven from the famous red jersey as they head into one of the most keenly contested domestic league in recent times.

Donkor told sports crusader,”We are going to take the season on match by match basis. We believe everybody is a potential winner and know what is at stake. We must not under rate any side in the league. Every game is as important as the other”.

The prolific full back then ruled out any adverse effect from the lengthy break on the top tier league ahead of next month’s kick off.

“The break will not affect us in the league. Even though we have a long rest period, we have passed through a very good preseason ahead of the season openers. We are motivated by wearing the club’s jerseys and will surely defend it”.

The Ghana Premier League kicks off on February 20, 2016 after a long spell out due to legal tussles.
