The Stade Said Mohamed Cheikh in Moroni will this afternoon witness one of its biggest crowds ever in the history of Coromos football as the national team Les Coelecantes come up against the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Billed to be one of the biggest games ever in the history of the tiny island nation, many a fan would not want to be left out of the history making day.

Among the tall list of dignitaries expected to be present at the 2,000 capacity multi-use stadium in Mitsamiouli opened in 2007 as part of FIFA’s Win in Africa with Africa program will be the first gentleman of the land, President His Excellency Dr. Ikililou Dhoinine.

The avid lover of football and the number one supporter of the Les Coelecantes is expected to be joined in the presidential box by spouse Hadidja Abubakar Ikililou Dhoinine to cheer the country’s gallant men against the Black Stars.

Yet to qualify for a major tournament since gaining independent in 1975, the qualification over Lesotho which saw them book a date against the Black Stars today, is one big achievement that will lead the country’s soccer folklore books.

And should they earn even a draw against the much fancied and star-studded Black Stars then trust the island state to be turned into a big jamboree arena after the game, however only God can predict what would happen should they post a famous win against Ghana this afternoon.

According to locals here in Moroni, since the news came out that they would be facing Ghana, many have been saving to be part of the privileged few who would be able to watch live the likes of Asamoah Gyan, Jonathan Mensah, Abdul-Majeed Waris, the English Premier League (EPL) trio of Baba Rahman and the Ayew brothers, Dede and Jordan who have a huge fan base in the Comoros because of their exploits in the EPL.

Since the Asamoah Gyan led Black Stars landed at the Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport in Moroni the city of Moroni, the joy in the air for the Comorans has leaped to the roof as they cannot wait to see the players playing before their own eyes.

Even right from the airport, officials and workers mobbed the team with the Ayew brothers alongside Gyan stealing the show. Shockingly, the local here in Moroni are high in spirit and predicting a 3-0 win over the Black Stars.

Most of them when they come across the few Ghanaians supporters who flew in with the team yesterday, they make a sign of three fingers signifying 3-0 for the Les Coelecantes.
