GBSA boss charges sporting federations to be innovative

President of Ghana Beach Soccer Association, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has urged the various sporting associations to be innovative and aggressive in raising funds to run their activities.
The various sporting associations are set to have their already meager allocation further slashed when the national budget is presented by the Sports Minister to Parliament on Friday.
Sources are predicting a further decline in the budgetary allocation for sports.
A 40% reduction is expected for the 2016 financial year- meaning the plight of the various sporting situations over complaints of no funds to run their various activities is set to get worse.
But President of the Beach Soccer Association Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is bracing himself for such a challenge and is urging his colleagues in the other sporting associations to find innovative ways of raising funds to augment the meager allocations handed them by government.
“Unfortunately we got nothing last, all the previous years so we are not expecting any favours,” he told Takoradi-based Radio 360.
“It is unfortunate but we have prepared our minds not to expect anything.
“Rather let us look for corporate friends and ways to fins sponsorship for Beach Soccer and hopefully government will top up, I think that is what we need to do now.
“And I will use your platform to humbly appeal to other associations. Instead of waiting for government to give us a 100 percent budget or a 50 percent.
“We must just look elsewhere and be innovative and aggressive to get sponsorship for our various associations otherwise we risk dying out. That is the reality of the situation on the ground at the moment.”
