Novak Djokovic Win Australian Open Final

World number 1, Novak Djokovic won his sixth Australian open title as he defeated British number one and world number 2, Andy Murray in the final.

The Serbian ensured the Scot headed home empty-handed as  he downed Murray 6-1, 7-5, 7-6 in two hours and 53 minutes.

Murray who wanted a victory as a welcome gift to his soon to be born child will immediately head home with the second place trophy as wife Kim, is due to give birth.

The World No 2 was outplayed in the first set, but fought hard in the next two, only to fall in the end.

Murray becomes the first player in the post-1968 Open Era to lose five finals at the same Grand Slam since Ivan Lendl at the US Open – who eventually won it.
