Long-serving goalie, Isaac Amoako who sustained an arterial cruciate ligament tear will today Friday, November 13, 2015 undergo an arthroscopic knee surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra.
An arthroscopic surgery is a “minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and normally treatment of the damage is performed using an arthroscope, an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision”.
The surgery will essentially relief the goalie of any pain with the likelihood of him returning to full fitness after months. Isaac Amoako, the only Kotoko player to have spent nine continuous seasons at the club suffered the injury after landing awkwardly at training.
MRI examination revealed the degree of the injury and analysis by the medical team established that, he would need a surgery.
The medical team subsequently submitted the necessary reports to management on the goalie’s injury as moves were made for the surgery which will cost around US$7,000.
