Jonathan Mensah Explains First Half Exit In Comoros Game

[ad_1]

Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has revealed that his substitution in the early minutes of the game against the Comoros national side, was a precautionary measure by the coach Avram Grant.

The dependable defender, who started the game, lasted for only 25 minutes on the pitch after an injury that looked liked a hamstring forced him to be replaced by Daniel Amartey.

According to him, it was not a serious problem but in a bid not to make it worse he had to make way.

“I am okay now; I had a little knock during the early minutes of the game and for safety reasons I had to go off so not to aggravate what started as a sharp pain in my thigh.”

Ghana on the afternoon also lost Solomon Asante to injury as he also went off in the 37th minute of the game.

The soggy pitch at the Baba Yara Stadium was in a bad state and made ball control very difficult for virtually the whole game for both sides. But as professionals as they are, they had to plot a course through till the end.

The opposition was very physical on the day and it showed in the 80th minute when Omar Kassim was given his marching off orders after a second bookable offense.
